What is TRE®?
TRE® (Trauma Tension Release Exercises) were created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD after he witnessed the effects of trauma and chronic stress on the bodies of the individuals he supported and helped in various war torn countries during his tenure as a clinical social worker and bioenergetic therapist.
Dr. Berceli observed adults contracting and children shaking under high stress and he formulated this theory:
A- we are genetically encoded to contract our body to protect ourselves when we are
experiencing stress and/or trauma.
B- we are also genetically encoded to release such contraction by tremoring and
shaking but, as adults ,we tend to repress this natural releasing response because
shaking has a negative social connotation.
C- The seven TRE® exercises are designed to either stretch or mildly fatigue the legs’
muscles to elicit the reactivation of this natural response called Neurogenic Tremors.
TRE® is a gentle, body-based practice that helps release deep tension, stress, and stored patterns in the nervous system. Through a series of simple movements, the body is invited into a natural neurogenic tremor—a calming, restorative process that supports regulation, grounding, and resilience. It’s accessible for most people and can be a powerful complement to other healing work.
* For this practice, please wear comfortable clothing which will allow for free movement and bring a yoga mat if you have one. If you do not have a mat, we will provide you with one to use for your practice.
Each month on the third Sunday, we will gather for an afternoon of connection, healing, and nourishment.
Each month, we'll share a different healing offering; from sound baths to gentle movement, meditation, or energy work, followed by a warm community meal featuring homemade soup and fresh bread.
This gathering is an invitation to slow down, connect with others, and receive.
We'll provide the soup and bread. If you feel called to bring something to share, you're welcome to, but it's never required
Come as you are.
Give as you're able.
Receive what you need.
